The God In You 🤍

“The same way you got him is going to be the same way you’ll have to keep him”

We all may have heard this saying before, really it speaks to the methods we use to capture the attention of a romantic interest. When you hear this saying, what comes to mind? For me, it’s if you capture the attention of a romantic interest using worldly methods, you’d most likely need to continue using those same worldly methods to keep him. Nevertheless, we desire a God fearing man.

Here’s another question to ponder on, if they took the worldly bait you set out for them, are they truly the man of God you’ve been seeking God’s face for day and night? Not to say a man of God will not have weaknesses, because they certainly will, we all do. However, a man of God who is prepared by God for marriage, and most importantly, sent by God for you specifically, will not fall prey to such methods no matter how much they may appeal to his flesh, you know why? Because ultimately he’s being led by the spirit. Your God appointed husband will be more enticed by the Holy Spirit on the inside of you than anything else.

As a single woman in this backwards society it can be difficult to believe that there are men of God out there who truly are searching for, and attracted to the God in you. I’m here to remind you that there are, so don’t settle for less. I’m not yet in a relationship with the man God has for me, but God is very compassionate in that he’s allowed me to see the possibility of what I’ve been praying for first hand from the perspective of a man of God being led by the Holy Spirit to his God ordained wife.

I’ve always been the type to give give give, and one of the first things that came to mind when God began preparing me for marriage is, “What do I bring to the table?” and “What do I have to offer?”.

Meditating on such things oftentimes stressed me out because what I considered made me wife material was my grind, ambitious attitude, and independence. The thing about being a part of this human experience is that the grind isn’t always grinding, certain ambitions fade or change, and sometimes you just need help. So, in my eyes because I didn’t meet this worldly future wife criteria of mine, I wasn’t by my own standards wife material.

After letting me sit in my own foolishness for a while, God dropped something in my spirit, “If he sees Me (God) in you, and still does not find you ‘good enough’, then he is not the man for you”. God was saying that He’s the criteria, His spirit on the inside of me is what makes me wife material. He’s who I have to offer, and that’s more than enough. It’s the God in us that empowers us to love our future spouses in the way they need to be loved.

To go a little further, the same “methods” you use to capture the heart of a God fearing man, is the same “methods” you are to use to keep him.

Pause…

Alright, so let me make this clear, I’m using the word “methods” here to aid in understanding, but truly, living righteously is not to be used as a method to get or keep anything or anyone, living righteously should be done out of your love for your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So, if you’re just faking righteous living in order to obtain your heart’s desires, trust me you’re not fooling anyone, but yourself, because God examines the heart, therefore, He knows where your true allegiance lies.

When you walk into this relationship, remember your source and guide. When conflicts arise, because they inevitably will, do not seek worldly solutions, seek the face of God. Let Him guide you to your God ordained spouse, and let Him keep you two together as intended.
