The Gift: A Hefty Price

Not every gift is a gift from God. There is always a price to pay for what seems "freely" given to us. While the gifts of God are received through grace and by faith, the gifts of satan require harsh and demeaning forms of repayment. In the end, it’s never worth the price you have to pay, and often that price is revealed only after you have received the gift.

A need is an indication that there’s a possibility for more; for better. For our enemy, all hope is lost, therefore, he possesses no real need for anything. So why does he demand payment from you? Why do his "gifts" come with a price?

The reason is that the price is designed to drive a wedge between you and God. Though nothing can keep God from loving you, much certainly can keep you from loving Him in the only way man truly can—living a life of obedience (See 1 John 5:3). In his hatred for you, Satan aims to lead you away from abundant life and towards eternal damnation.

Everything apart from Christ leads to death and condemnation. The price of these gifts will never honor God; it will always contradict the character of the child of God you are meant to be. This contradiction can open the door to feelings of condemnation, making you want to turn away from God out of shame, thinking that forgiveness is not available to you. It’s a long game with Satan—a slow but sure method of leading you away from God.

If the enemy can give you gifts, how much more can God provide gifts without any catch? God asks nothing of you but to come to Him and allow Him to correct what has been misconstrued in your life. He does not require that you come to Him already clean and healed; He desires to do that for you because only He truly can. His gifts are genuinely free and are given out of His love for you, with the intended purpose of prospering you.

For you, He withholds no good thing. There is healing, forgiveness, freedom, peace, joy—abundance. Most importantly, there is true love.
