Behind The Door

Hey guys!

So, I wrote an entry February 13th called, The Redeemer: The Wolves, and a part 2 to that message, The Redeemer: The Sheep. Today’s message sort of goes hand in hand with those two entries, nevertheless, you do not need to read either before reading this one, but I do highly recommend reading both at some point.

Majority of the time when I write, I just let the Holy Spirit do His thing, so it’s always a wonder to me when months later I realize what He spoke through me in my writings, though I believed myself to have written certain portions from an opinionated perspective, actually have biblical evidence. I find this humbling because I’m reminded of Who this blog really belongs to. I write for the Lord, but still I am ALL human, so in knowing this, I do realize that my interpretation of certain messages from the Lord as well as His word differs from others in that, though we may not like to admit it, our life’s experiences as well as the complexity of our personal relationships with God play a role in how we perceive what’s presented to us.

Let’s begin…

About 3 years ago I had a dream of an open door, and behind it was the manifestation of God given promises. While reading through Deuteronomy the other night, I was reminded of this open door; this opportunity placed before me. As I combed through this book there was a very important message God wanted to get across to those He blessed: “Don’t forget Me”. As I dove deeper into the word, I got an epiphany regarding our relationship with God…

Are we not the bride of Christ? Are we not in a covenantal relationship with Him? Are we not intertwined in a forever made agreement with our Lord and Savior? Then no matter where we end up in life, we are to remain loyal to our life partner. For better or worse, right? Though the Lord hates divorce, because an earthly marriage is an outward symbolization of our internal covenant with Him, there are two cases where biblically it is tolerated: Desertion (See 1 Corinthians 7:10-16) and Infidelity (See Mathew 5:31-32).

Much like our earthly example (marriage), the Lord expects you and Him to be a forever thing, for better or worse, but if you walk away from Him, choosing to no longer honor Him and His commands, you then become a disloyal partner, and have opened yourself up to the consequences of disloyalty (See Deuteronomy 11:28). When the Lord opens the door, be thankful, not just for the moment, but forever. Never forget where you’ve come from and Who kept you while you lived in the pit, as well as Who brought you out and exalted you.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 states,

26) See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse— 27) the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; 28) the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

Honor God ALWAYS, honor your agreement, most importantly LOVE Him. If you truly love Him, you will desire to please Him, not out of obligation, but out of the genuineness of your reverence for Him. You’ve passed the heart check to get you through the door, now pass the heart check after gaining entrance, for NONE of it is due to your works, but SOLELY by the grace of God. Forever give thanks, don’t forget God.

Scripture to reflect on:

Ephesians 2:8-9:
8) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9) not by works, so that no one can boast.
