Pill Popping

I’ve procrastinated so bad when it comes to getting this word out, why? I’m not entirely sure, but God brought it to my attention for the 3rd time just yesterday, so I know I shouldn’t sit on this word any longer. This is going to be a bit of a lengthy one, but the message is SO important, so you might want to get comfortable if you’re curious about what God has to say to you today.

So I had this dream March 3rd 2023, over a year ago, before this blog was created. August 6th 2024, God not only urged me to post it, but he referred to the overall message, of which includes the dream, as, “Pill Popping”, as if it had already been named (I usually name my posts after I’m done writing them, not before).

Funny thing is I had no idea what God was talking about when He mentioned it, because as I stated, this message had yet to be written by me. I just assumed He was referring to something I would write further in the future because the setting of the dream was not in my current state.

August 29th, 2024, I was reminded of an old dream that just so happened to be about popping pills, and that’s when it clicked, God wanted me to share this dream and the message behind it with you all, so without further ado, here’s the dream:

Sin is a drug 03/31/2023

Dream…

I was young, maybe in my teens, and there was a pill I had bought from this dealer. It was a deadly drug. I used this drug, but it did not really effect me, I was able to use it, then never use it again.

One day I was hanging out with friends and I got lost in the idea of what would happen if I were to lose them to the very thing I was about to introduce them to. I knew that I was playing a dangerous game, and that I was—I gave them all the drugs anyways, and what made this worse is that I knew they could possibly die from it. One of my friends died immediately, and I remember having to lie about being the one who introduced her to the drug in order to keep from getting into trouble.

There was another guy, apparently I had given him the drug as well, he came back begging for more, but seeing the condition that he was in, instead I prayed for his release from the addiction and sent him on his way.

Side note:

I was inconsiderate in this dream, I gave this drug lightly because I knew I could handle it, but unfortunately not everyone can overcome what God has graced you to overcome, and that’s not by your own power, but by your willingness to allow the Holy Spirit within you to overpower your desire to continue sinning.

For example:

I remember when I was on the market, before I really started living for Christ, I’d have certain conversations with men just for fun, but I never intended on having sex with them, but while playing with something I knew I could handle (lust), I was feeding into their addiction, and ultimately leading them down an even darker path.

Dream continued…

Then God showed a young boy to me, he was going about life as normal, he seemed like a regular pre-teen with no care in the world. Next thing you know I see an older man, and I could see that this man was on the pill hard (the same drug I had used and shared with friends), to a point where I felt as if I was in danger when he was around. His addiction led him to hurting others and himself.

I was older at this time, maybe in my 30s. I had parked at the back of this building. In this building is where I saw this older man. I remember there was this long line for the restroom in this building, and I had to really go, but right before getting in the line to use the restroom I had noticed the older man had entered the building as well. Immediately I recognized that he was on the pill, and I could tell it had completely overtaken him, so instead of using the restroom I rushed to exit the building.

He noticed that I had discerned him and his addiction so he followed me, and tried to kill me. When he caught up to me, I had to fight for my life. He had this supernatural strength and speed. Many times throughout the fight he should’ve died, but he never did, he just got back up and kept trying to kill me, even though his life was also at risk. I thought I was going to die.

Then, there was this man who saw me fighting for my life, so he pointed a gun at the older man as he was hanging on my back trying to deliver the final blow to kill me. Before the man with the gun could pull the trigger , I grabbed the addict's arm and flipped him over from my back, like slinging his body forward, and instantly he was dead.

I remember, when I realized he was dead, the dead body was no longer the old man’s body, but it was instead the body of the pre-teen I had witnessed previously living his life as normal. This old man who had become an addict turned out to be the pre-teen God showed me earlier in the dream. Somewhere along the way he took the pill and was unable to reclaim his life back, and ended up dying a tragic death.

The Message:

Sin is a drug, it creates addicts, and ultimately if not immediately leads to our deaths. People are used as pawns in the devil’s game to corrupt the world. Many fall for his tricks and end up hurting others and themselves.

Living in a fallen world, sin has been desensitized, resulting in the overall seriousness and deadliness of it all being hardly ever recognized. I’m sharing this post to remind you all that it is in fact that big of a deal. Falling into temptations as well as serving as a stumbling block to others by leading them into temptations is dangerous.

Though you may not physically see the effects of your actions, spiritually you and those you’re leading are drifting further and further away from Christ, and closer to true death, ultimately forfeiting eternal life after physical death.

It’s not worth your soul, and it is certainly not worth another’s. Live a life worthy of the call on your life, for the sake of your soul (See Ephesians 4:1), and if you’re going to lead anyone anywhere, lead them to true life; to Christ Jesus.

For the love of God:

Many of those who call themselves “followers of Christ”, lack the love that God calls us to possess and show others, therefore, many miss that even those who seem “too far gone” are ultimately victims. Normal people who have made a few mistakes along the way; people who’ve yet to submit their lives to Christ in order that they may reclaim the life that the enemy has stolen from them.

Some get to experience Christ’s restoration in their lives, while unfortunately, others are completely overtaken by sin, and tragically miss the opportunity to get it together before physical death.

We who recognize the impending destruction need to pray for those we feel are going down the wrong path in life. NOT judge them, but pray for them. Pray that the Lord’s strength is made perfect in their weaknesses, so that when they’re weak, then they can be strong through Christ (See 2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

We all need help every now and again, we all need someone in our corner holding us up in prayer when we're not strong enough to do so for ourselves. Even when we are able, still it is a blessing to have another brother/sister in Christ praying in agreement with us and God’s will for our lives. When two or more are gathered, God hears them (See Mathew 18:20).

Be what you may need, or have needed in the past, for someone else in need. That’s how you walk in true love.

Greatest Takeaways:

  1. Sin corrupts, and ultimately leads to death

  2. Flee sin, as well as the temptations to sin

  3. Be mindful not to lead others into sin (you may recover, but what if another does not?)

  4. Show mercy to those who are spiritually not on the same level as you

    • Remain humble, we all still have some growing to do

Scriptures to reflect on:

Romans 14:13

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

13) Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.

James 1:15

15) Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
