Supremacy
Supremacy: supreme authority or power
I used to mistake peace for quiet. As if in order to experience internal peace, I must first be engulfed in external silence, but as we all know, external silence is fleeting; must end.
Now that I feel true peace within, I realize that life has not been very quiet, nevertheless, I feel at peace; settled within; still, though I’m always moving. There’s this knowing of who and Whose I am. Though I may not know what the will of God for my life specifically consists of, still there’s this contentment with His mysterious, yet undoubtedly magnificent plan.
I’m reminded of Psalm 46:10, “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” In this verse God is not necessarily calling us to physically freeze when He tells us to “be still”, He’s calling us to trust Him, and rest in our knowledge of His supremacy.
So throughout this new season of my life I’ve found that true peace within is not living a silent life per se, but it’s a personal acknowledgment of God’s supremacy in our lives, and an internal settling in the knowledge of Who God is, and that we belong to Him.
Scripture to reflect on:
Romans 8:28
And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
