A Grieving Nation

Today, an overwhelming wave of grief came over me. I asked God why I suddenly felt this way, and He placed two people on my heart. Both had recently lost their earthly fathers. My first instinct was to pray for them, but it wasn’t until I arrived home from work that God began speaking to me more deeply about the subject.

In the blog post titled “Investment,” I shared a dream of a father and two children—children whom the father lost because of a desire he had given them. I explained how the father symbolized our Heavenly Father, and the children symbolized many of us. When you have a moment, go read that post; there is a powerful message within it. In a similar way, the loss of these two earthly fathers—may they rest in peace—symbolizes the separation between us and our Heavenly Father.

I was led to another Christian blog today. Though the post was unrelated to what God was showing me, the author described God’s emotion as grief. Instantly, it all clicked. I was not led to their blog by coincidence. While praying on my drive home, I felt the Holy Spirit urging me not to ignore what I was feeling. So I said, “Lord, I feel grief, and I don’t know why.” God made sure I named what I was sensing, so that when I later saw that same word, it would stand out. He knew that was all I needed to receive this message for you all.

Here is what the Holy Spirit allowed me to understand:

Much of the pain, emptiness, and emotional suffering that so many cannot seem to escape is rooted in a lack of connection to our Heavenly Father. Without realizing it, you may be experiencing a type of grief due to distance from your Creator—a spiritual longing that, in many cases, has manifested as mental or emotional distress. Some may even experience it as a kind of spiritual separation anxiety.

That deep, dark pit that feels impossible to climb out of is often tied to disconnection from Jesus Christ. In many cases, it is disobedience, woundedness, or unbelief that creates a wedge between the soul and God. Your spirit is suffocating because it was made to live in communion with Him.

The enemy would prefer for your spirit to remain in that disconnected state, as far from Christ as possible. Not because he loves you, but because he hates you profoundly and desires for you to suffer as he inevitably will for eternity.

Your Heavenly Father is the only permanent solution to your pain and suffering. He is the only one who can reach down into your pit and pull you out. He wants to—but you must allow Him to. You must open your heart to Him. He has given you free will, so it will require you choosing His will for your life in order to fully receive the salvation and restoration He has already prepared for you.

When you read this, do not ignore it. Do not wait until tomorrow or the next day. Take hold of the promises of the Lord and watch Him heal you—right in front of those who hurt you, right in front of those who expected you to drown. God will make your deliverance undeniable.

You do not have to grieve alone. God is waiting for you with His arms wide open, ready to bring you home.

Extra:

Take captive every negative thought that runs through your mind, and by the blood of Jesus make those thoughts obedient to His authority. Do not believe the lie. You are forgiven, and you are more than enough, because Christ who lives within you is more than enough.

Today is the day you walk in the freedom God has for you. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Grieve no longer—your Heavenly Father is alive and well, and He is waiting for you. Yes, you. It is you He wants, and He is not a man that He should lie. Come home.

If you’re ready and I pray you are, say this prayer with me…

Lord God, I come to you today realizing that I am a sinner who needs saving. I’m sorry for all that I have said, thought, or have done, that was not pleasing to you. Father, please help me to live righteously according to your word. I’ve tried life my way, and I believe that through you there is so much better. So Father, today, I give myself to you. Today I choose faith over fear, I choose your truths over the enemy’s many lies. Father, create in me a clean heart according to Psalms 51:10. Father, your word says that if we declare with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. So Father by faith, I declare in this very moment and for the rest of my life that Jesus is Lord, I believe that He was sent on this earth to die for our many sins before I was even born, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I thank you for sending your one and only son for my sake, I thank you for all of your grace and mercy, and I thank you for the gift of salvation. I love you Father.

I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen!

Congratulations my love! You should be so proud of yourself!
